Ballarat-born indie rocker Oscar Perrett plays like he has something to prove and nothing to lose. With a DIY-till-he-dies mindset, Perrett finds a way to fuse driving riffs with infectious pop melodies (and a little swagger) to create moments of bliss with each listen.
With over 300+ airplays on radio stations nationwide (Triple J, PBS, 3cr, 4zzz, Radio Adelaide, RTR, FBi), Perrett is a rising star within the Australian music scene. With his defining combination of impressive instrumentals and thoughtful lyracisim, Perrett has drawn praise from many notable figures within the industry including the likes of Triple J’s music director, Claire Mooney, reviewing Perrett’s track ‘SWEEP ME UP’ as a ‘Another excellent [song] from [Oscar] … really love this one.‘
An ode to standing before the storms of your life, knowing the worst may still be yet to come. Perrett explores his belief that the best way forward is through.
Having written, recorded and produced this track, Perrett demonstrates his musical prowess whilst also highlighting the reasons why he is one to watch closely.
Cool winds blow in the clouds again
This time I'm gonna try to stand it
Called you on your way home
Pleading through the payphone
Wish that you were near
These winds are getting so cold
I'm soaked down to the bone
Wish that you were here
Is that the sound of a thousand horses
Or is that thunder on my door step
Clouds rolling in and I remember what we said
The breeze will only take you if you let it
(oh) I called you on your way home
Bleeding through the payphone
Wishing you could see me
I'm never gonna grow old
I'm soaked down to the bone
These waters, they will keep me
Is that the sound of a thousand heartbeats
Or is that lighting coming towards me
Cool winds blow in the clouds again
This time I'm gonna try and stand it
Sweep me up in this house I’m in
To the land of the monkey men
She’s a hurricane
She’s a hurricane
Women are crones and men are tin
With their eyes of gold and emerald skin
I can see with the light of night
The truth of the darkness in her eye
She’s a hurricane
She’s a hurricane
I felt you turning and twisting my dear
You’re miles away but you’re right here
Sweep me up in this house I’m in
Take me to the monkey men
She’s a hurricane (Sweep me up in this house I’m in)
She’s a hurricane (to the land of monkey men)
She’s a hurricane (Sweep me up in this house I’m in)
She’s a hurricane (to the land of monkey men)
She’s a hurricane (Sweep me up in this house I’m in)
She’s a hurricane (to the land of monkey men)
She’s a hurricane (Sweep me up in this house I’m in)
She’s a hurricane (to the land of monkey men)
“She’s a Hurricane” is more than a track; it’s a bold statement, a call to arms for all independent voices fighting for fairness and recognition. Tune in, feel the power of music that doesn’t back down, and ride the storm. ‘
Local Sounds Radio
What the …..?
Shows in people’s living rooms/backyards/etc, and have a very intimate experience. I’m going to play many new, unreleased songs for these performances, many songs that translate very well to the living room, but not so well to the club.
Interested?
If you would like to host a living room concert, reply and fill in the information below, and I’ll get back to you with possible dates for your area.
What I charge.
The concert costs $350; if you charge 30 people $15 a head and 30 people show up, that equals a total of $450. That gives you an incentive to provide snacks and drinks with the $100.
How long is the concert?
The concert will last 2 hours. The first 45 minutes will be an acoustic (chill set). Take a 15-minute intermission, and the next hour will be plugged in. Make sure to invite your neighbours, or are OK with this. Looking to start at 7:30 pm for most places.
Note: Please let your guests know that this is an intimate, private concert by a touring musician. This is not a party.
